Travis Turnbull Joins Prospects Hockey Academy

Prospects Hockey Academy is proud to welcome Travis Turnbull to our coaching and mentorship staff, bringing with him nearly two decades of elite hockey experience spanning youth, collegiate, and professional levels including the NHL.

Hockey runs in the family for Travis, the son of former St. Louis Blues player Perry Turnbull. Growing up, Travis spent countless hours playing roller hockey at his father's rink, Midwest Sport Hockey, located in Queeny Park an early foundation for what would become a lifelong career in the game.

A St. Louis, Missouri native, Travis's on-ice journey began with the Creve Coeur Comets before he moved on to the Chesterfield Falcons. He went on to play for the AAA Blues and the Junior Blues, developing into one of the area's top prospects before leaving home to pursue Junior A hockey with the Sioux City Musketeers of the USHL, where he played for two seasons.

While with the Musketeers, Travis earned a scholarship to the University of Michigan, where he played four seasons of NCAA Division I hockey and graduated before signing an entry-level contract with the Buffalo Sabres of the NHL. Travis went on to appear in NHL games for the Sabres, highlighted by a memorable first NHL goal scored at Madison Square Garden.

During the 2012–13 NHL lockout, Travis signed with Düsseldorf in Germany's top league, the DEL, launching an extensive and successful career in European professional hockey. Over the past 14 seasons, he has played for multiple clubs in Germany as well as a stint in Sweden's top league, the SHL, winning multiple championships and serving as team captain on several occasions.

Travis brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and firsthand experience at every level of the game to Prospects Hockey Academy, and we're excited for our athletes to learn from his journey.
